Newsletter No. 1, Friday 10th February 2023
Message From The Principals
Dear Students, Staff, and Families of Hobart City High School,
It is with great excitement that we, the Principals of Hobart City High School, welcome you all to the new academic year. This year marks a historic moment as we embark on our first fully co-ed year and we hope this newsletter finds you well after a restful summer. We extend a special welcome to our new staff, students, and families and are thrilled to have you as part of our Hobart City High School community. We are confident that you will find a warm and inclusive environment here.
In this newsletter, we have included a list of key contact people for your young person. Please don't hesitate to reach out early just to connect. We know that improved outcomes for young people are enhanced when families and the school work together closely.
We are also excited to announce that we will be holding a welcome event on each campus in week 4. Please put these dates in your calendar as we would love to see you here. This will be an opportunity for you to meet our staff, see our facilities, and learn more about what we have planned for the year.
Our aspirations at Hobart City High School are to create the school of choice for our Hobart families. To achieve this, our priorities this year include making sure every student is known and feels a sense of belonging to the school. We believe that creating a welcoming and supportive environment will help our students succeed and reach their full potential.
We look forward to working with all of you to make this year a successful and memorable one. Let's work together to create a positive and inspiring learning experience for everyone at Hobart City High School.
Sincerely,
Deb Day - Lead Principal
Holly Stewart - Principal, New Town Campus
Andrew Hughes - Principal, Ogilvie Campus

Rowing At The Sandy Bay Regatta
Some of our rowing students represented Hobart City High, racing in a small regatta at Sandy Bay during the holidays. The annual Sandy Bay Regatta (short course, 500m) is the perfect setting for junior/beginner rowers. Our U14 boys were pumped to get some races under their belts. Our U15s were there to provide some wisdom and extra competition. Hobart City High enjoyed plenty of first and second places in the quad sculls and single sculls relay events. Congratulations to these students: Grade 8: Jasper J, Josiah D, Eli N, Sanuka D.Grade 9: Gawain S, Harvey W, Jackson S and training partner James (from Dominic College). We have other rowing students (boys and girls) who have been training all summer and will represent our school at the Hobart Regatta and Lake Barrington in the coming months. We wish all our rowing students the very best for the rest of the season.
Grade 10 Hoodies
The Year 10 Leavers’ hoodies and shirts are well underway! We are in the process of finalising the designs, with the expected colour as Mountain Blue. We will open orders and payments in the next few weeks, always aiming to keep costs down as much as possible.
